Cruises in Chile Chile
or the Republic of Chile is a beautiful South American
country nestled between the Andes mountain ranges and
the Pacific Ocean. This narrow coastal strip in the
continent is a combination of contrast natural beauties
containing marvelous deserts, lofty mountains, Mediterranean
landscapes, charming islands, sweeping plains, ice-fields,
fjords, alluring lakes and glaciers.
The most obvious factor in Chile's remarkable slenderness is the massive, virtually impassable wall of the Andes, a mountain range that is still rising and that contains more than fifty active volcanic peaks. The western border is of course the Pacific Ocean, but it is a misconception to picture Chile as nothing more than the steep western slope of the Andean peaks.
All along its length Chile is marked by a narrow depression between the mountains and the sea. To the
north the land rises and becomes more arid, until one reaches the forbidding Atacama Desert, one of the most inhospitable regions on earth. To the south just the opposite transformation takes place: the land falls away, and the region between mountains and ocean fades into the baffling archipelagic maze that terminates in Chilean Patagonia.
Chile's southern extremity is marked by Cape Horn, a treacherous headland surrounded by almost continuously storm-tossed seas and passable only through the foggy stillness of the Strait of Magellan.
Chile is a modern country linked to a wide variety of international markets, providing for a broad and varied assortment of international "modern" goods available in its malls and shops, without forgetting its past or its culture.
In most places you will therefore be able to find "artesanias" as well as local markets selling handmade local products, ranging from the world
renowned alpaca sweaters and jumpers to beautifully made silver and Lapis Lazuli jewellery all with a destinct Andean style, for very reasonable prices.
In contrast to many other places these handmade products are primarily meant for the local market and widely used by the Chileans themselves rather then beeing mass produced "tourist quality" souvenirs and good buys can often be found in the most unlikely places.
Apart from these,
architectural brilliances such as museums, art galleries,
resorts, hotels also abound here. And when all the natural
trails and man-made things go in perfect sync with each
other then definitely the exciting recreational opportunities
are bound to be present. So look at the things
to do in Chile . These are;
